DYNAMIC THAI MASSAGE

A gentle type of Thai Massage inducing a deep state of relaxation

Rocking, harmonious, meditative movements ○ Dynamic stretches ○ Acupressure

Origins and Therapy

Dynamic Thai Massage (also called Rocking Thai Massage) is a unique flavor of Thai massage involving gentle rocking and repetitive (at times continuous), harmonious movements, dynamic stretches, acupressure, joint mobilization and traction of different body parts. Inspired by Ajanh Chaiyuth Priyasith, one of the most prominent traditional Thai massage teachers of the 20th century from Chiang Mai, this massage therapy is a true meditation in movement that allows one to restore mobility and experience a profound sense of relaxation on a physical and psychological level by engaging the parasympathetic nervous system through a listening, kind, and grounded touch.

Dynamic Thai Massage is a clothed massage therapy requiring no oil. It is performed on a mat placed on the floor to promote free movement and flow, with each session typically taking 2 hours to complete. Each part of the body is slowly rocked by using waving, fluid movements, punctuated with localized stretches and a selection of acupressure sequences intended to suit any individuals. This gentle and mindful approach is especially suitable for inducing a deep state of relaxation and well-being, alleviating physical tensions, releasing negative emotional energies and blockages, improving body awareness, and restoring balance and harmony within the body and the mind. Akin to a mother cradling her baby, this poetic dance combines the elements of Fire and Water to allow one to surrender, feel free, and go deeper into their healing journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Dynamic Thai Massage performed?

Dynamic Thai Massage is traditionally performed on the floor using a wide, thin yet comfortable mattress. The technique involves a synergistic use of slow rocking phases, localized stretches, and acupressure sequences.

How do I need to prepare myself?

Dynamic Thai Massage is a fully clothed massage therapy that does not require the use of an oil. Considering its nature, it is recommended to wear comfortable, ample, or stretchable clothes. All pieces of jewelry should be removed prior to the session, as well as any glasses or contact lenses. Hair must be attached to better facilitate the access to your neck. In order to fully appreciate the benefits of the massage, it is recommended not to eat at least 2 hours prior to the session. Taking a shower is also advisable.

I heard that Traditional Thai Massage can be quite strong and intense. Is it the same with Dynamic Thai Massage?

Unlike Traditional Thai Massage, Dynamic Thai Massage involves rocking, harmonious, slow meditative-like movements, and gentle stretches, allowing you to experience a profound sense of relaxation on a physical and psychological level.

How long does a regular Dynamic Thai Massage last for?

Most of the Dynamic Thai Massage sessions last around 2 hours. As you fall into a deep state of relaxation, sense of time is easily lost. What appears to be a long massage at first on paper will in reality be a pleasant experience, leaving you with a deep sense of well-being.

Are there any contraindications?

As of today, Kůra Růka is unfortunately not in a position to offer massage therapy to pregnant women, individuals with cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, diabetes, active cancer, circulatory and coagulation disorders, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, infectious diseases, or severe disabilities. In case of arthritis, inflamed muscle, muscle tear, bone fracture, sprain, tendinitis, or varices, the massage session will be adapted accordingly.

What should I do after a massage session?

In order for your body to better assimilate the benefits of Dynamic Thai Massage, here are some recommendations to follow:

  • You may experience body aches in the next 48 hours, which is a normal reaction from the body. Tension accumulated for long periods of time indeed releases toxins when massaged. Feel free to move your body the day after your session: light yoga, walks in nature, and swimming are particularly suitable activities.
  • Stay well hydrated during the next two days to reduce the risk of inflammation and to balance your body fluids.
  • If possible, do not go to bed at late hours and maintain a regular sleeping schedule.
